This kind of reminds me of Overlord, where Ainz's subordinates are constantly over-analyzing everything he says and does like he's a super genius, when in reality a lot of the time he's just winging it and/or fumbling along.

This anime has some potential if it were to take itself a bit more seriously. I like the concept of it, but it's filled with tropy elements that completely ruin it for me. First of all, the story progresses in a weirdly fast pace, introducing a few characters which have good potential but as generic and two-dimensional as the medium (anime) itself, and are ruined by the tropyness. I'm not bothered by the typical "I'm here to be the strongest/reach the top" trope, but it completely lacks the conflict needed to make it interesting imo. I feel like it would already be at least 40% better if it wasn't for the most side-character of side-characters in the show Nirei, who is there only to explain what's happening, and give some background info on the characters that are introduced, which wouldn't really be an issue if he wasn't so fucking loud and wimpy. He enrolled into a famous delinquent high school without being one himself, not knowing how to fight for shit, and always freaking out despite knowing how strong his friends are. Again, I wouldn't have such a problem with that, if they didn't focus on him so much, and make him stand out in every serious scene as that comic relief bs or something. It's clearly visible that they've borrowed or have been inspired by Tokyo Revengers, but at least in TR they depict delinquents being more delinquent (not rlly counting the crybaby MC, annoys me greatly) and not only making them look angry or talk more crudely, as compared to Wind Breaker. The whole storyline (so far) has given the impression as if the story's been written by a person with chuunibyou, who watched TR and MHA and said "let's do both", with the only delinquent thing about them being the label and occasional dirty looks, while playing heroes, patrolling the town and doing chores. The antagonists really have great potential in my opinion (despite almost mirroring TR characters), but have been given almost zero background so far. The story lacks any real conflict besides the territorial disputes between the two groups, which I feel like could have been introduced and drawn out with maybe a bit more stakes in it. The anime has currently covered a short "entrance ceremony" to quickly introduce the characters, a couple of street fights to showcase the "delinquency" part and some of the characters' fighting abilities (which are in my opinion a bit underwhelming), and some rando background character (who we never see again) being beaten up to initiate a little "fighting tournament" with downplayed stakes behind it. The MC, while being probably one of the only "delinquent" characters in the show, initially deals with deeply rooted loneliness and some sort of anti-social condition induced by childhood trauma of being shunned, persecuted, and discriminated against because of his appearance, and his consequentially violent personality. Instead of exploring and delving a little deeper into his trauma, and working on his path to overcome it, meeting people who are willing to understand/support him, and discovering compassion and empathy hidden within him with the help of great story/character development, which they do manage to show in some scenes, they keep rinsing and repeating the same shtick over and over: MC says or does literally anything regarding other characters, or shows any emotional development, and then gets instantly teased by other characters, making him blush and try brushing it off. Over, and over, and over. And to put the cherry on top, they add some more unnecessarily obnoxious scenes with Nirei, who looks like he took side-character lessons from Cid Kagenou (Eminence in Shadow). I could continue adding more, but I just wanted to underline the main issues and critiques I had with this show. Overall, while the concept of the show and its characters show potential, but just does not deliver in any way. While I cannot speak for the manga, as I did not (and don't intend to) read it myself, I can't see myself recommending this show to anyone who appreciates and expects more from a show than just nice character design and an occasional decently animated fight scene. And while I certainly didn't think that Tokyo Revengers had a good MC, nor that it was a great show or anything (especially after they butchered basically the entire story with that godawful ending), I would say it still had a better story, with a more serious undertone than the very tropey, generic, and honestly boring shounen anime that is Wind Breaker. So for any of you who haven't watched the show, I would recommend first watching the better version of this, which is Tokyo Revengers, OR if you want to watch an actually good (and funny) delinquent anime, go watch Great Teacher Onizuka.

I know many are comparing it to tokyo revengers, but is the fighting in wind breaker as realistic as in tokyo revengers? (I know there are time in TR where a character survives multiple pipe hits to the head or becomes Buakaw level at 15 but there are still many scenes which show realistic techniques and outcomes like rindou using bjj or mucho using judo or takemichi doing a rear naked choke)
